Job Title: Community Supervision Officer (CSO)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director or Deputy Director, a CSO must be able to exercise mature and independent judgment in response to the responsibility of the Courts of Orange County, the Department, and the probationer; investigate and evaluates the criminal and social histories of the defendant in order to provide information and recommendations to assist the Court with sentencing decisions; interviews defendants in office or at the jail; also interviews family members and others, the victims, law enforcement personnel & previous supervising probation officers; Compiles criminal histories, reviews offense reports and related information; evaluates risk and need factors; determines if defendant is appropriate candidate for probation and recommends conditions of probation. Composes and types Pre-Sentence or Post Sentence Investigation Reports as well as updates, in accordance with unit standards, departmental standards and Court expectations. Serves as Court liaison; testifies in Court when required; maintains accurate case records and perform other job-related duties as directed.
